ABRAHAM BROTHERS - We Are Dead... Yet We Live FM (USA) 4745 VG++/VG+ 15
   (Early 70's, AOR rock with blue-eyed moves. Sweetened up pretty heavily, horns & strings...
    Andrae Crouch covers & Bridge Over Troubled Water with new Jesus lyrics.)
AGAPE FORCE - S/T?                                  Candle Company Music (no #)         NM-/VG++   6
   (No date, no info. Looks very 1972-1973. I know it's not the "Potpourri" record, but if it has
    a title, it's beyond me to find it; first song is "Soldiers Of The Army". Lightly electrified
    rock-pop with mixed vocals, a few tracks rock a little, but most sound like members of a
    church choir trying for youth appeal.)
(FRED ALBITZ) - CMU Senior Banquet AIP 1055 NM/NM-- 40
   (1969, clever & sophisticated mostly-acoustic folk-rock trio, sounds like Simon & Garfunkel +
    Michelle Philips. Document of a band + multi-media/film presentation written by Fred Albitz,
    musicians not credited. Side 2 is completely irrelevant to our purposes. Listed in Ron Moore's
    data-base under "CMU", if I remember...)
NICU ALIFANTIS - Dupa Melci Electrecord (ROM) 01587 NM-/@NM- 150
   (1979. Ethereal semi-acoustic prog/folk-psych with some mellotron and lots of flute, unique
    and really lovely. If you want to be picky,maybe the ideas are a little thin on side two...
    You can hear it HERE (I think)
    http://www.radio3net.ro/sp2/db_artisti.php?cx=list_piese&id_album=617 )
ALIOTTA HAYNES JEREMIA - Lake Shore Drive Bigfoot (USA) BF 714 XX/stVG++ 10
   (1970, minor classic of the homemade-rural-psych variety. A bit sweet in places, and there were
    moments when I thought "PLEASE don't be The Eagles!", but there's lots of drug references in
    the lyrics, and one nice six minute blues/psych stomper with LOTTA organ. NO ILLUSTRATED JACKET
    ON THIS COPY -- It may or may not be a coverless, as-issued variant, because it seems too clean
    to have belonged to careless album-cover-losing type of people, but all I can honestly say is
    "COVERLESS COPY." Good upgrade,if somebody has a nice sleeve with a beat record. Years later
    it occurs to me that what probably happened is that somebody didn't want her/his parents to see
     a sleeve that screamed LSD! so s/he threw it away and kept the record in a blank sleeve.)
ALMENDRA - S/T                             RCA (ARG) LZ-1160                                P/VG  20
   (1969. Melodic pop-psych with occasional hints of Mystery Tour & White Album, other influences
    impossible to pin down. Chamber music, acid-guitar-psych, Donovan, jazz, bossa nova... etc...
    Side two's where all the electricity and fuzz is. Diverse and unique. Lyric insert is missing,
    sleeve is beat beyond description.)
AMERICAN FLYER - S/T                                Unit.Art.UA-LA650-G  cc             VG+/VG++   6

NEW!! 6/17 ASSASSIN OF SILENCE - Phaze Shifter Neurological (USA) 5002 VG+/NM-- 50
   (TEST PRESSING. 1091. Hard-to-classify, it gots a little of everything. Lennon-worshipping
    power-pop White Album progrock art-metal. Starts out Badfinger, then it gets kinda Floydy,
    then Uriah Heepness comes to the front, then...
BENNY ANDERSON & POVL DISSING - Svartes Viser Metronome (DEN) BP 7739 VG+/VG+ 10
   (1972-73, with ABBA guy on keyboards. SCAND-folk adapted for the pop market -- not strongly
    psyched or strongly progged, but a few tasty songs and moments are scattered throughout.
    Recommended for Robert Charlebois fans, if there are any.)
(UNKNOWN ARTIST) - Let It Be Pickwick (USA) SPC-3216 VG++/stVG 5

(ANONYMOUS) - Springbok Hit Parade 19               MFP (S AFR) 54619                 stVG+/NM--   5
   (1974. Sound-alike rekkid from South Africa -- smooth studio band, highlights of the songlist
    include I Shot The Sheriff, Kung Fu Fighting, Rub It In...)
(ANONYMOUS) - Springbok 51                          Springbok (S AFR) MW 90002         stVG+/VG+   3
   (1980. Sound-alike rekkid from South Africa -- smooth studio band, highlights of the songlist
    include Another One Bites The Dust, Don't Stand So Close To Me, The Wanderer...)
ARIZONA MUSIC CARAVAN - Everything You Wanted To Know About God
                 *But Were Afraid To Ask (2LP) Pax (USA) 001 VG++/VG++/stVG+ 10
   (Written & performed in 1971, possibly not recorded until early 1972. Dave Wo and Tony Marsh
    wrote a two-elpee musical play for their church group to perform, dramatizing a night at a
    youth 4 Christ coffeehouse, with declarations of faith, questionings, confrontations,
    philosophical musings... Tony Marsh was ex-Up With People, music is scored for Guitar/bass/
    drums plus piano and seven-piece 'orchestra', five singing soloists playing lead roles and as
    many as 29 more singers in the chorus. All the songs, and all the dialogue, and it is surpass-
    ingly bad. Interesting to see how earnestly they assert that their Jesus opposes poverty and
    racism and supports the Vietnam War.)
BABY - S/T                                         Lone Starrs 1134                   VG+/stVG++  15
   (1974? TX. Brisk and refreshing southern-boog/powerpop, like if Cheap Trick were from Macon and
    recorded on Capricorn. RW.)
BEACH BOYS - Best Of Capitol Starline DT 502545 NM-/NM- 13
   (Record club issue, all the biggest hits from their uncomplicated early years. 'Surfin' USA',
    'Fun Fun Fun'... up to 'In My Room'.)
NEW!! 7/7 BEACON STREET UNION - Eyes Of BSU MGM (USA) SE-4517 stVG+/stVG++ 30
   (All the flavors of popsike trippiness gathered together in one place. Fake-raga, instrumental
    experiments, stereo-separation headphone headgames...)
BEATLES - Meet The Beatles                      Capitol (USA) T 2047 (MONO)          stVG++/VG++  65

  (Mono pressing. Cap/rainbow orig. Cover printed slightly off-center (1/8 inch), coh, 1/2 inch
   split at u.r. corner, light surface wear to front and back. Disc: 2-4 light, long, needle marks
   or scuffs each side, plays better than it looks, though 3 or 4 songs were a little rustly. Does
   not have original innersleeve or insert. WOL.)
BEATLES - VI                                        Capitol T 2358 (MONO)                 VG/@G  FWP
   (It's trashed, it skips, you can have it for free. Just ask.)
BEAU BRUMMELS - Introducing                         Autumn (USA) 103                  stVG++/@VG+ 20
   (1965, the beginning of that jangling folk-rock thing. Compared to The Byrds it's a fraction
    more teen/less arty... but only a fraction.)
BE BOP DELUXE - Modern Music Harvest ST-11575 VG++/NM- 4
  (1976, I think. Glossy, melodic art/glam. Nice guitar, overall very pleasant.)
BEAU BRUMMELS - Best Of                             Vault LP 114 (S)                  stVG/stVG    5

   (1967. Solid and very likeable, guitar-heavy beat/garage,nice blend of chunky, driving rockers
    and moody/folkrock tunes. Covers and originals, incl. "Time Is On My Side".)
LES BEL AIR - Marchante Dans La Plaine Citation (CAN) CN 16017 stVG++/VG 20
   (1968. More poppy & eclectic, less guitar-driven. Occasional keyboards, mix of styles from "toy"
    pop-psych to pop-a-billy and pop-try & western. Hot frat-rock version of "Land Of 1000 Dances".)
LES BEL AIR - Pour Faire Changement Disco Bel-Air (CAN) DBA 10001 NM/@VG+ 20
   (Beat-pop all flavors: pop-psych, country-pop... loud honky horns on their Chicago cover...
    Side two is genuinely "psych" at the beginning and the end, but nothing else caught my interest
     much.)
LES BELAIR - Jouent Les Belair Belair (CAN) BAB 1002 VG++/VG+ 15
   (1969. Instrumental versions of big rock hits, 1957-65. Everything from Duane Eddy twang to
    acid guitar-leads to pedal steel country-cizing. Most "modern" track is "Time Is On My Side".
    COH.)
FRANCOIS BERANGER - Le Monde Bouge Escargot (FRA) ESC 323 VG+/NM-- 7
   (1974. Seventies-styled wah-wah AOR/rock-pop that occasionally takes on some pomp/prog moves.
    J P ALARCEN on guitar. Sung in french, has insert.)
BETHLEHEM ASYLUM - Commit Yourself Ampex (USA) 10606 NM--/SS 25
   (1970? Jazzy, long tracks, said to have some psychy/dissonant touches.)
BIKINI - Ha Volna Meg ldom Favorit (HUNG) SLPM 37162 VG++/NM- 8
   (1988. AOR/prog with lots of atmospheric exotic bits. Interesting enough to overcome the "ROCK
    OF THE 80'S" tendencies... but just barely.)
ELVIN BISHOP GROUP - S/T                            Fillmore (USA) 30001                  @VG+/VG  5

BUDDY BOHN - A Drop In The Ocean Capitol SMAS 878 SS 20
TONY BOLTON - S/T (10" lp)                          Electrecord (ROM) EDD 1218 (MONO)     VG/NM-  10
   (Tony Bolton was lead singer for UK beat-group The Federals, who put out most of their records
    in Romania only. This is Romania-only too, but it's an orch-pop Tom Jones knockoff, nothing
    rockin' on this one from start to finish. Four Seasons, Platters and Bee Gees covers, if any-
    one cares.)
TONI BROWN & TERRI GARTHWAITE - Cross-Country      Capitol (USA) ST-11137                NM-/NM-  12
   (1973, red label. Two JOY OF COOKING gals do a side-project in Nashville with standard studio
    cats. I wasn't eager to buy it until I noticed that there was a separate credit, among the
    list of sidemen, for "lead fuzz guitar". Fuzzmeister Dave Doran. Unfortunately, I didn't
    hear even a trace of him while I was needle-dropping.)
RON BUFFINGTON - The Harmony Is Missing Futuresound RB-101 VG+/stVG++ 10
   (1980, Indiana private -- nicely melodic pop/folk-rock, would appeal to people who enjoy Deep
    Water Reunion or Buffalo Springfield... Features CORKY SIEGAL on harmonica on two tracks.)
CAL - Rock And Roll Homegrown No label? (USA) NM-/SS 50
   (1980. Getting-some-attention hard-rock/stoner private from NY state. Marijuana leaves on back
    cover. Song titles: Rock & Ride, State Of Mind, Party Party, Young & Angry... Still sealed,
    so I can't form an opinion, but it's got that primitive kitchen-table-designed look for sure.
    Acid Archives have a funny write-up on this one.)
IAN CAMPBELL GROUP - I.C.G. Sampler Vol. 2 Transatlantic (UK) TRA SAM 12 VG+/NM-- 12
  (1969. Compilation of album/EP tracks from earlier releases. Purple & white label Promo?)
CASINOS - Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye Fraternity (USA) 1019 NM/NM 50
   (1967? light-rock, all AM-radio and stuff. Two punchy, dancy frat-sound numbers.)
CAT MOTHER - Albion Doo-Wah                        Polydor 24-4023                      stVG/VG+   5
   (G/F cover, attractive but 9" seam split.Psych/heavy with violin, organ, long, jamming
    instrumental passages. Some odd touches in the arrangements, pretty interesting. Diverse
    textures/influences. B-side mostly country rock, with one SMOKING instrumental track.)
CESAR ET LES ROMAINS - S/T Choc (CAN) CM 1201 (MONO) VG++/@VG+ 60
   (1965. Early garage/beat with one foot in the teen-doowop-Leiber & Stoller-Bobby Darin camp.
    Mostly covers, one or two originals, 5/12 rockers and the rest are ballads. Pretty decent,
    but sorta off-target in their choice of styles.)
NEW!! 7/7 CHARLEY D AND MILO - S/T               Epic (USA) BN 26533                  stVG++/NM-  12
   (Possibly my very favorite "rural-psych" record of all, strikes the ideal balance between
    'hippie' and 'countryfied'. Plus the purtiest version I've heard of "I'll Keep It With Mine.' )
CHARTISTS - Cause For Complaint Steam Pie (UK) SPR 10048 stVG++/NM- 30
  (1987, but these guys live in a place where it's 1972 forever. Prog-rock/hard-rock; concise
   song structures, artful playing, folk-ist underpinnings, soaring, echoey guitar soloes...
   No single band comes to mind, but... oh... Jethro Tull/Magna Carta/Traffic... LTD: 500.)
CHICAGO - 1st album (S/T) (2LP)                   Columbia GP8 360-sd               VG+/VG++/VG+  17

RICHARD CHRISTENSEN - Muve Capitol (USA) STAO 246 @VG+/VG++ 15
   (1968 pop-psych cheese; spoken word (none dare call it poetry) with big fancy orchestrated
    musical backing. They snuck some guitar in here and there, but it basically is icky-sticky-
    string orchestra and choir. Beatles & Paul Simon covers... John Tartaglia involvement. COH,
    mild sspl.)
CHRISTOPHER CLOUD - Blown Away Chelsea BCL 1-0234 VG++/NM 12
   (1973. Really FUN boogie/glam-rock, best songs are like "Exile On Bubblegum Street".)
LES CLASSELS - Et Maintenant...                   Trans-Canada (CAN) TF-353 (MONO)      VG/@VG++  20
   (1965. They can't shake off the 50's-teen influences (Anka, Platters...) but there's a very
    decent beat-group trying to break out -- even the weaker tunes have lots of guitar twang,
    and on the better songs they really burn. Nice, tough-sounding version of "Secret Agent Man".
    Please ignore the two doze-out ballads. 1st press? Full-body group portrait on cover, red
    background. Flat maroon label. SSPL, sm WOL.)
LES CLASSELS - Et Maintenant...                   Trans-Canada (CAN) TF-353 (MONO)       @VG++/VG 15

    stereo pressing, and multi-color label. COH.)
TOM CLAY - What The World Needs Now Mowest (USA) 103 VG++/@VG++ 10
   (1971-ish, unbelievably heavy-handed social-relevance record; instro versions of uplifting 60's
    pop-songs behind a collage of news broadcasts, narration and the voices of small children. The
    manipulative highlight is probably the children's choir singing "America The Beautiful", up to
    the line 'land where my fathers died...', followed by a voice reading a list of Vietnam cas-
    ualties. Side two is embarrassing Anthony Quinn style recitations about Clay's love life. SW,
    CC+ sawm.)
PETER COFIELD - What Exactly Is A Friend Metromedia KMD 1053 stVG/VG++ 6
   (1972, WLP. Idealistic hippie folk-rock songwriter, mostly acoustic. )
COLD BLUE STEEL - S/T                             Mr. Lucky Records (no #)             VG++/VG++  30
  (From Utah, no date. Probably late 70's. Outlaw-styled country rock with enough rock moves to
   hold your interest. Mostly covers: W. Jennings, M. Haggard, Carl Perkins, J Cash, Elton John
   (?)... Nothing very intense or heavy, but one nice mellow-psych original called "Waygone
  Blues".)
COLLAGE - S/T                                     Smash (USA) SRS 67101            (coh) VG++/SS  35

   (Elaborate arty-pop-psych with orchestrations, in the Pet Sounds/Pepper bag. Not quite as
    accomplished as though, but still quite rewarding; has all the right moves, from music-hall
    to sitar.)
COLOURS - Atmosphere                              Dot (USA) 25935                     stVG+/VG++  15
   (Rural psych with some funky touches; band's first lp was flower-psych, orchestrations and
    effects, but this one's more guitar-based.)
SHEP COOKE - Concert Tour of Mars                 Sierra/Briar (USA) 8705                NM/VG++  15
   (1979, AZ. Ex-DEARLY BELOVED, ex-STONE PONEYS, 70's folk/folk-rock with two or three electric
    tracks, mostly good-timey intimate coffee-house type session. Mostly originals, some trad
    songs and covers of Long Black Veil and Jamaica Farewell.)
CHARLELIE COUTURE - S/T                           Island (FRA) 6313145                    @NM/NM   7
   (1980-81, stylish but kinda-bland modern-rock of its era. Reggae-lite, neo-rockabilly-lite...
    vocals have some personality and flair, some of the lyrics (in french) are clever, and a couple
    of songs sound as though they might just grow on one.)
CREAM - Disraeli Gears                            Polydor (GER) 184105                   VG++/VG   6

  (1979, Toronto CA. AOR with funky underpinnings. Solid rhythm section, lots of electric piano and
   sax. One solid guitar rocker in a Capricorn Records/Leon Russell vein.Bass-player ex-GUESS WHO.)
DADDY COOL - Daddy's Coolest                      Wizard (AUS) 1002                     NM/@VG++   8
   (1982, hits collection. Light-hearted boogie/skiffl/billy with a lot of 50's covers, reminds
    me of... oh... Dr. Hook. Too good-timey for much rockin' catharsis, but "Good Golly Miss
    Molly" is a hard song to ruin.)

   (1968. Eight tunes by Spencer Davis, 3 by Traffic and one other by (Andy Ellison?). Mostly
    chugging midtempo freakbeat; standout cuts are a Spencer Davis instro that has Steve
    Winwood all over it on organ and songwriting, and a Traffic tune with sitar and harmonica.)

    one guitar, sound is like a Spanish Ralph McTell. SUPER engineering, lovely warm guitar sound...
    Appears to be missing an insert or a printed inner with half the lyrics on it.)
DINO DESI & BILLY - Our Time's Coming             Reprise (USA) 6194 (MONO)               VG++/VG  5
   (Second album by Hollyweed preteens, in case you didn't get enough badness from their first
    record. Possibly a little less embarrassing than their first album. Produced + liner notes
    by Lee Hazlewood.)
DOCTORS OF MADNESS - Late Night Movies, All Night Brainstorms Polydor (FRA) 2383 378 VG++/VG+ 12

    ison's vocals on this version... and it's not just the dirty words, either, there's a lot more
    you've been missing. This copy is totally beat up, skips in a couple of places and looks like

BOB DYLAN - Rare Batch Of LWW (3LP box) Joker Rec.s (ITA) @VG++/NMx3 40

JOHN FOGERTY - Eye Of The Zombie Warner Brothers 254494 VG++/@VG++ 3

   (Live recording, Fillmore East 1968. Rocks more than I expected it to, I always imagined them
    to be folkie-nerdy-beatniks (in the nicest possible way), but this has some electricity and
    some pop hooks and some psychy guitar solos. Imagine my surprise.)
NEW!! 11/15 ARTHUR GEE - S/T                Tumbleweed (USA) 101                       @VG+/VG++ 20

    others drift toward "prog"; overall, reminds me of Pearls Before Swine, but not as consistant.

GEORGE AND BEATOVENS - Kolotoc Svet Panton (CZE) 010203 VG/VG++ 40
  (1970. Proggy beat-psych, a little retrograde for the year. Lead guitar, occasional dual
   leads, hammond, flute... sound alternates between sensitive, meadowlarkin' pastoral and
   something that moves a little more.)
GERRY & PACEMAKERS - I'll Be There            Laurie (USA) LLP 2030 (MONO)               @VG+/VG+ 10
   (Third US lp by the guys (taking into account the repackaging of UK originals). Two sappy
    originals by Gerry, two sappy covers, and seven ravers that fall a little flat. If you're
    like me, you can't pass on a record that has covers of 'Rip It Up' and 'Whole Lotta Shakin'...
    but still, it was just a little disappointing. COH, mildew OBC.)

ELTON GUMBEL JR/KEITH LEATHERS - Observations          Undercurrent (USA) UC 1313         NM-/NM- 20
   (1982, Missouri. Homemade-look micropress by conscious-blackness artists on shortlived
    conscious-blackness label; songwriter/AOR with some jazz moves -- vocals, piano and
    acoustic bass. If I try to come up with something that it sounds like, I think of John
    Martyn or Peter Hammill, and that isn't much help... but it's sorta vaguely like some-
    thing along those lines. Kinda.)
DIRK HAMILTON - Alias i                     ABC (USA) 976                                VG++/SS   8

    the scarcest titles put out by Elektra.)
HOLLIES - Very Best Of United Artists UA-LA-329-E VG++/VG++ 3

   (1965. Rockin' banality! Nothing new here, but I can't HELP but crank it. Great farfisa organ!
    Sleeve shows wear around edges, including one small paper-tear, no other problems here worth
    mentioning.)
IAN & SYLVIA - Lovin' Sound                      MGM E 4388 (mono)                     VG++/stVG   3

   Baroque-y arrangement of "Reason To Believe".)

   (Decadent, failing tag-ends of a once-brilliant group. Kantner/Slick science fiction, Kaukonen's
    junkie ballads & clearly blues-oriented guitar work, Slick making with some prog/experimental
    moves... Has lyric insert, does not have outer bag.)
JULIO ANGEL - El Idolo Hit Parade (PR) HTPR 001 (MONO) NM-/SS 60
   (1965 LP by "the Puerto Rican Beatle". I haven't heard this'n, but his 1966 record, with the
    same personnel, was half ballads/salsa with orchestral backing and half beat-group jangle
    pop-rock, Searchers/Byrds sound... with one KILLER garage-y rocker courtesy of guest-vocals-
    gal Tammy. This one probably is about the same... but no Tammy... and I can't promise any
    single song is gonna kill.)
PAUL KANTNER/JEFFERSON STARSHIP - Blows Against The Empire RCA (USA) LSP 4448 VG+/VG+ 3
   (Not as bad as I remembered it; I hated these Kantner/Slick side-project records when they were
    new, but this one isn't all that bad. Too many songs dominated by piano, but there are some
    interesting proggy bits and "Mau Mau (Amerikon)" rocks pretty toughly, nice fuzz guitar.
    Orange-label RCA, first pressing. Has lyric insert & original innersleeve.)
PAUL KANTNER/GRACE SLICK - Baron Von Tollbooth...      Grunt BFI 1-0148                 VG+/VG++   5
   (1972, Height-Ashbury Allstars playing stylized late-Airplane stuff. Most of the urgency and
    weirdness are gone, but it's not yet irretrievably banal and bland.)
KINGSMEN - 15 Great Hits                         Wand W 674                           stVG++/@VG   8

   (1966, I guess, their 6th album. Catching up with the British invasion; Beatles, Stones and
    Troggs covers, plus some frat/dance standards. The dullest rhythm section ever, but this
    isn't completely painful to listen to, they come up with new twists for a few songs; Under
    My Thumb is kinda neat. And they rented a fuzz-box for one song.)
LEFKI SYMFONIA - Xpwmata                         FM (GRE) FM391                         NM-/VG++  10
    (1996. Interesting Greek band in a hard-prog/progressive-metal vein. Sounds very 1970 in some
     ways; melodic and powerful... Impressive record, if a bit dirge-y.)
GARY LEWIS/PLAYBOYS - A Session With...          Liberty LRP 3419 (MONO)              @VG++/@VG+   8

   (1987, Louisiana band, homemade AOR by wannabe Bostons. Weird semi-literate liner notes make the
    package look like a vanity pressing; very cheesy presentation.)
ANNE LINNET - Jeg Er Jo Lige Her Pladecompagniet (SWE) NM/NM- 5

  (1973. KILLER, absolute powerhouse exploito "afro-rock" by session loonies. Side one is dark

    turns trippy, heavy-ish, teenaged garage-poppy... The psychy longer tracks are very artful
